Oh the joys of bringing a newborn home! It’s a surreal feeling to walk out of your house as a couple, and then to arrive back to your front door as a family of three…

The pictures featured below are from the newborn lifestyle session of baby Beau. When I arrived at the Bugg household, I had a surprise up my sleeve for the brand new parents, Ashley and Chap! Since I had the honor to photograph Beau’s birth experience, I previously had concocted up a little video slideshow of the pictures from that special day (which was just a week before) of which they hadn’t seen yet. Revealing their birth photography images to them in person accompanied by an intimate video, was just as special to me as I believe it was to them. We cried all over again as we relived those powerful moments and tears of joy.

To me, there is something so pure about photographing a family in their own home. In their own environment, the imagery I create at a family’s house is really more about them in their own natural surroundings. Documenting lifestyle family and newborn sessions allows me to capture my clients’ most important moments in a laid-back photojournalistic fashion, photographing their true day-to-day lifestyle. Shooting at-home sessions really has become the modern trend today, and I am all for it!
