This burgundy and blue military wedding was giving me “all the feels” this spring. The beautiful pops of color mixed with the classic marine uniforms made for a really neat and patriotic color scheme. I love a good uniform, and these guys right here sure were wearing them with great pride — as they should!
The most exciting thing that took place at this wedding was the sword detail! According to an article I found online, “The arch of swords ceremony is an old English and American custom, which gives a symbolic pledge of loyalty to the newly married couple from their Marine family.” There really is no grater way to be shown loyalty than to be made an arch to walk through in your honor. I found it to be quite regal, which almost makes you feel like the couple are grand royalty! The soldiers surely did not let anyone down. They did a fantastic job!
Another fun thing I remember about this wedding was that it was very very windy! It just might be the windiest day I’ve ever witnessed. Being on an open golf course at The Georgia Club in Athens probably had a lot to do with the gusts, I’m sure. I really hope it didn’t knock anyone’s golf game off too much, haha. Did we let this wind keep us from rocking this wedding’s socks off? No way! In fact, it was really nice to have such a refreshing breeze while on the verge of summer. Everyone knows how hot Georgia can get, so this peach wasn’t complaining one bit.
Okay so, can we talk about how pretty this couple is?! Cortney was jaw-dropping gorgeous! Luke was such a rockstar in that uniform! I’ve always imagined that this couple would look stunning on their wedding day, and oh-my-heavens they were total eye candy! If you can’t tell in these pictures that Cortney and Luke have a connection like no other, just take my word for it. I love how fun they are together. It’s like they have a playfulness about them that is just so adorable!
There’s something about the comfort of God’s word that just brings so much peace to any and all situations in life. Biblical scripture was a big part of this wedding. I love how they included scripture as several decor details. From little wooden signage pieces, to a large King James bible as their guest book, and having a cross be a part of their unity declaration — it all kept things in acknowledgement to our Lord. How amazing!
Cortney and Luke, I can’t express how much it means to me that you would have chosen me to be your photographer for this special day. Thank you for being so kind and encouraging to me. You’ve treated me as a friend, and I’m so glad we’ve gotten to experience all of this together. I am so very appreciative for what you give of yourselves in the military service — for which I cannot thank you enough. I am praying for you, hoping the best for what’s to come for you. 🙂
